  • Clinical Assistant Professor, Radiation Oncology
  • Medical Physicist at UPMC Cancer Center at Horizon

I provide clinical medical physics service mostly at UPMC Horizon Cancer Center and other centers when needed. I also provide in-service teaching for our therapists and dosimetrist. My research interests include dose calculation algorithms and their impacts on treatment planning, intensity-modulated arc therapy for lung, head & neck and prostate cancers, and image-guided-radiation therapy.

Research Interests

Summary of research: Other than routine clinical duties, I am conducting research related to dose calculation algorithm which recently became available in our clinics.  The new algorithm is supposed to be faster and more accurate.  By comparing with old algorithms, the new algorithm is faster for IMRT and VMAT plans, it does improved the accuracy on a heterogeneous phantom.   We have submitted our results to a journal.  Another research topic is in brachytherapy and the results will be presented at Astro 2016.
