Christopher J. Bakkenist, PhD, is associate director for education and training at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. He is chair of the Hillman Committee for Excellence in Education and Training which serves to review the effectiveness of current programs and explore a need for the creation of new ones. His labs studies focus on the homeostatic DNA damage signaling associated with DNA replication and RNA transcription in unperturbed cells. His extensive work and multiple findings have stimulated research interests in the pharmacology of DNA damage signaling in the immune system.
